About the FairCare Project
Within the international “Fair Care Learning and Training for Inclusion and Self-determination in Long Term Care” Erasmus+ project, dedicated experts from 6 countries – together with the people directly affected – work closely to support the development of self-determined living in the field of long-term care.
The project duration is October 1. 2024 – May 31. 2027. However, all partners are committed from the very beginning to continuing it locally in some form beyond this period.
The innovation of the FairCare project is that it involves all groups participating in the development of independent living. People in need of care, family members and helpers, as well as institutional staff, think and work together, such a joint effort that has not yet been realized in most European countries.

Partners
The professionals from the partner countries of the project have been working for many years to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged people. Their experience, expertise, and innovative way of thinking contribute greatly to the success of FairCare. Most importantly, they all share the principle of “Nothing about us without us” – meaning that their work is always based on the needs of the target groups and carried out in close cooperation with them.

Training
The FairCare project develops a comprehensive training program based on the needs of the target groups, in cooperation with them. This program will be carried out in local FairCare training centers created by the project partners.
The aim of this training program is to empower people with disabilities and/or in need of care to practice self-determination in long-term care.
Target Groups
Our primary focus is on older people and persons with disabilities in need of care. They wish to live a self-determined life in the environment of their choice, supported by appropriate services.
The second group consists of relatives, friends, and other informal caregivers.
The third group includes formal caregivers, the innovative professionals working in institutions who bring their expertise to the system.
